Objective Hypnosis

When discussing the topic of practical implementation of hypnosis, Dr. Sakellion answered several questions.

In your opinion, can all patients be influenced by hypnosis?

Yes, they can BUT only if there is an inner wish and trust the doctor and the method which he or she chooses for finding the solution to the problem. There are any people who are not influenced by hypnosis. The state of hypnosis is useful for health. However, some people have negative attitude towards this method of psychotherapy due to the lack of knowledge.

Is hypnosis a passive state for a patient?

Not at all! It is an active process. A patient defines a goal for him- or herself; a doctor, as a specialist, defines the ways of its achievement by formulating motivation, by strengthening the faith of a patient in him- or herself, by following carefully and informing the patient about positive changes in sensitive and emotional status.

How many hypnotic sessions are enough for the achievement of a result?

World practice shows that about 10 or 12 sessions are enough. However, if we encounter with some kind of minor problem, we may get the positive result well sooner.

Does the hypnotic state possess some features other than therapeutic?

It is generally true that during hypnosis psychological activity of a person becomes more intensive: more energy, self control, and concentration and a patient deepens in him- or herself. If compared with normal state, during hypnosis mental and physical abilities increase and a patient can easily bear physical and emotional stress. Another important thing is that during hypnosis it is possible to intensify the level of volitional processes, memory, sense of perception and manifestation.

Doctor, can you explain some evidence, which only you know, that makes hypnosis different from other unusual states?

During our practice, we had to differentiate this state from sleep, simulation and some types of pathology. In my dissertation I had a chance to mark out several objective psychophysiological and clinical correlates of hypnotic state, and to determine characteristics of bioelectrical brain activity that increases its adaptation abilities. The research we carried out later on mentally ill people enabled us to claim that the hypnotic state modulated by us had nothing in common with the pathology and this made us to have more trust in this method of psychotherapy.

Specialists of which spheres can use hypnosis in their practice and who can evaluate the results?

As professor Berekhtov said, “Hypnosis is the prerogative of a doctor.” For some time past, I think that a talented psychologist can also work in cooperation with a doctor. However, from my own experience I can tell that sometimes doctors are too much keen on medication. Yet when working in a team with a psychologist, results of hypnotic psychotherapy will be higher.

Concerning specialists who are able to evaluate methods and results of hypnosis, it’s not an easy question to answer. Here, we have to understand clearly that the issue of modeling the state and behavior of a person is complex one, and probably it is necessary to hold to interdisciplinary approach. For example, registration (objectification) of changes of bioelectrical state of a human brain that correlate with the changes in emotional state, cognitive processes, volitional qualities, and features of behavior that occur doting the psychotherapy is the work of specialists in psychophysiology. This is the opinion of Greek professors in psychology, psychiatry, and neurology who wrote abstracts to our research on hypnosis in 2010.

Leading countries of the world, to which in resent years we can realty Uzbekistan, recommend their enterprises and institutions to have specialists in the sphere of psychology on the staff. The attention which is drawn to psychological state of the people defines further development of nations. People who adhere to healthy way of life recognize importance of their psychological comfort. Today, there is no need in looking for specialists abroad.

Nowadays, an exclusive specialist in the sphere of modern psychotechniques and technologies, whose works on hypnosis you can find on an international medical web-site PubMed, is at the head of
